**Verse 1:**

गुरुर्गुणवरो गोप्ता गोचरो गोपतिप्रियः। गुणी गुणवतांश्रेष्ठो गुरूणाङ्गुरुरव्ययः ॥ १॥

- **गुरुः (Guruh):** Guru, teacher

- **गुणवरः (Guna-varah):** Best among the virtuous

- **गोप्ता (Gopta):** Protector

- **गोचरः (Goch-arah):** Within reach

- **गोपतिप्रियः (Gopati-priyah):** Dear to the lord of senses

- **गुणी (Gunee):** Virtuous

- **गुणवतांश्रेष्ठः (Gunavatam-shreshthah):** Foremost among the virtuous

- **गुरूणाम् गुरुः (Guroonam guru):** The guru of gurus

- **अव्ययः (Avyayah):** Immutable


**Translation:**

Salutations to the guru, the best among the virtuous, protector, within reach, dear to the lord of senses, virtuous, foremost among the virtuous, the guru of gurus, immutable.


**Verse 2:**

जेता जयन्तो जयदो जीवोऽनन्तो जयावहः । आङ्गीरसोऽध्वरासक्तो विविक्तोऽध्वरकृत्परः ॥ २॥

- **जेता (Jeta):** Conqueror

- **जयन्तः (Jayantah):** Ever victorious

- **जयदः (Jayadah):** Giver of victory

- **जीवः (Jeevah):** Living, life

- **अनन्तः (Anantah):** Infinite

- **जयावहः (Jayavahah):** Bringing victory

- **आङ्गीरसः (Angirasah):** Related to Angiras

- **अध्वरासक्तः (Adhvara-asaktah):** Devoted to sacrifices

- **विविक्तः (Viviktah):** Distinguished

- **अध्वरकृत्परः (Adhvarakrit-parah):** Focused on performing sacrifices


**Translation:**

Salutations to the conqueror, ever victorious, giver of victory, living, infinite, bringing victory, related to Angiras, devoted to sacrifices, distinguished, focused on performing sacrifices.


**Verse 3:**

वाचस्पतिर्वशी वश्यो वरिष्ठो वाग्विचक्षणः ।

चित्तशुद्धिकरः श्रीमान् चैत्रः चित्रशिखण्डिजः ॥ ३॥

- **वाचस्पतिः (Vachaspatih):** Lord of speech

- **वशी (Vashee):** Controller

- **वश्यः (Vashyah):** Influential, commanding

- **वरिष्ठः (Varishthah):** The greatest

- **वाग्विचक्षणः (Vag-vichakshanah):** Eloquent, skilled in speech

- **चित्तशुद्धिकरः (Chitta-shuddhikarah):** Purifier of the mind

- **श्रीमान् (Shreeman):** Glorious, wealthy

- **चैत्रः (Chaitrah):** Relating to the lunar month of Chaitra

- **चित्रशिखण्डिजः (Chitra-shikh-andijah):** Born under the star Chitra


**Translation:**

Salutations to the lord of speech, controller, influential, the greatest, eloquent, purifier of the mind, glorious, related to the lunar month of Chaitra, born under the star Chitra.


**Verse 4:**

बृहद्रथो बृहद्भानुर्बृहस्पतिरभीष्टदः ।

सुराचार्यः सुराराध्यः सुरकार्यहितंकरः ॥ ४॥

- **बृहद्रथः (Brihad-rathah):** Possessing a great chariot

- **बृहद्भानुः (Brihad-bhanuh):** With a great luster

- **बृहस्पतिः (Brihaspatih):** Jupiter, the teacher of gods

- **अभीष्टदः (Abhishtadah):** Fulfiller of desires

- **सुराचार्यः (Suracharyah):** Teacher of the gods

- **सुराराध्यः (Suraradhyah):** Worshipped by gods

- **सुरकार्यहितंकरः (Surakaryahitamkarah):** Benefactor in the deeds of gods


**Translation:**

Salutations to the one possessing a great chariot, with great luster, Jupiter, the teacher of gods, fulfiller of desires, teacher and worshipped by gods, benefactor in the deeds of gods.


**Verse 5:**

गीर्वाणपोषको धन्यो गीष्पतिर्गिरिशोऽनघः ।

धीवरो धिषणो दिव्यभूषणो देवपूजितः ॥ ५॥

- **गीर्वाणपोषकः (Geervana-poshakah):** Nourisher of the learned

- **धन्यः (Dhanyah):** Blessed, fortunate

- **गीष्पतिः (Geeshpatih):** Master of speech

- **गिरिशः (Girishah):** Lord of the mountain

- **अनघः (Anaghah):** Sinless

- **धीवरः (Dheev-arah):** Wise, intelligent

- **धिषणः (Dhishanah):** Intelligent, learned

- **दिव्यभूषणः (Divya-bhooshanah):** Adorned with divine ornaments

- **देवपूजितः (Deva-poojitah):** Worshipped by the gods


**Translation:**

Salutations to the nourisher of the learned, blessed and fortunate, master of speech, lord of the mountain, sinless, wise and learned, adorned with divine ornaments, worshipped by the gods.


**Verse 6:**

धनुर्धरो दैत्यहन्ता दयासारो दयाकरः ।

दारिद्र्यनाशको धन्यो दक्षिणायनसम्भवः ॥ ६॥

- **धनुर्धरः (Dhanur-dharah):** Bearer of the bow

- **दैत्यहन्ता (Daitya-hanta):** Destroyer of demons

- **दयासारः (Daya-sarah):** Essence of compassion

- **दयाकरः (Daya-karah):** Bestower of mercy

- **दारिद्र्यनाशकः (Daridrya-nashakah):** Destroyer of poverty

- **धन्यः (Dhanyah):** Blessed, fortunate

- **दक्षिणायनसम्भवः (Dakshinayana-sambhavah):** Born during the southern transit of the sun


**Translation:**

Salutations to the bearer of the bow, destroyer of demons, essence of compassion, bestower of mercy, destroyer of poverty, blessed and fortunate, born during the southern transit of the sun.


**Verse 7:**

धनुर्मीनाधिपो देवो धनुर्बाणधरो हरिः ।

आङ्गीरसाब्दसञ्जातो आङ्गीरसकुलसम्भवः ॥ ७॥

- **धनुर्मीनाधिपः (Dhanur-meena-adhipah):** Lord of the signs Sagittarius and Pisces

- **देवः (Devah):** Divine

- **धनुर्बाणधरः (Dhanur-bana-dharah):** Bearer of bow and arrows

- **हरिः (Harih):** Lord Vishnu

- **आङ्गीरसाब्दसञ्जातः (Aangirasa-abda-sanjatah):** Born in the year of Angirasa

- **आङ्गीरसकुलसम्भवः (Aangirasa-kula-sambhavah):** Born in the lineage of Angirasa


**Translation:**

Salutations to the lord of the signs Sagittarius and Pisces, divine, bearer of bow and arrows, Lord Vishnu, born in the year of Angirasa, and born in the lineage of Angirasa.


**Verse 8:**

सिन्धुदेशाधिपो धीमान् स्वर्णवर्णः चतुर्भुजः ।

हेमाङ्गदो हेमवपुर्हेमभूषणभूषितः ॥ ८॥

- **सिन्धुदेशाधिपः (Sindhu-desh-adhipah):** Ruler of the Sindh region

- **धीमान् (Dhiman):** Wise, intelligent

- **स्वर्णवर्णः (Svarna-varnah):** Golden in color

- **चतुर्भुजः (Chatur-bhujah):** Four-armed

- **हेमाङ्गदः (Hema-angadah):** Wearing golden armlets

- **हेमवपुः (Hema-vapuh):** Golden-bodied

- **हेमभूषणभूषितः (Hema-bhooshana-bhooshitah):** Adorned with golden ornaments


**Translation:**

Salutations to the ruler of the Sindh region, wise and intelligent, golden in color, four-armed, wearing golden armlets, golden-bodied, adorned with golden ornaments.


**Verse 9:**

पुष्यनाथः पुष्यरागमणिमण्डलमण्डितः ।

काशपुष्पसमानाभः कलिदोषनिवारकः ॥ ९॥

- **पुष्यनाथः (Pushya-nathah):** Lord of the Pushya star

- **पुष्यरागमणिमण्डलमण्डितः (Pushya-raga-mani-mandala-manditah):** Adorned with a circle of gems resembling the Pushya star

- **काशपुष्पसमानाभः (Kasha-pushpa-samana-abhah):** Resembling the beauty of the Kasha flower

- **कलिदोषनिवारकः (Kali-dosha-nivarakah):** Remover of the faults of the Kali age


**Translation:**


Salutations to the lord of the Pushya star, adorned with a circle of gems resembling the Pushya star, resembling the beauty of the Kasha flower, remover of the faults of the Kali age.


**Verse 10:**

इन्द्रादिदेवोदेवेषो देवताभीष्टदायकः ।

असमानबलः सत्त्वगुणसम्पद्विभासुरः ॥ १०॥

- **इन्द्रादिदेवोदेवेषः (Indra-adi-deva-deva-ishah):** Supreme god among gods like Indra

- **देवताभीष्टदायकः (Devata-abhishta-dayakah):** Fulfiller of the desires of the gods

- **असमानबलः (Asamanabalah):** Unmatched in strength

- **सत्त्वगुणसम्पद्विभासुरः (Sattva-guna-sampad-vibhasurah):** Radiant with the wealth of virtue


**Translation:**

Salutations to the supreme god among gods like Indra, fulfiller of the desires of the gods, unmatched in strength, radiant with the wealth of virtue.


**Verse 11:**

भूसुराभीष्टदो भूरियशः पुण्यविवर्धनः ।

धर्मरूपो धनाध्यक्षो धनदो धर्मपालनः ॥ ११॥

- **भूसुराभीष्टदः (Bhoosura-abhishta-dah):** Fulfiller of the desires of the learned

- **भूरियशः (Bhoori-yashah):** Greatly renowned

- **पुण्यविवर्धनः (Punya-vivardhanah):** Increaser of virtue

- **धर्मरूपः (Dharma-roopah):** Embodiment of righteousness

- **धनाध्यक्षः (Dhana-adhyakshah):** Overseer of wealth

- **धनदः (Dhanadah):** Giver of wealth

- **धर्मपालनः (Dharma-palanah):** Protector of righteousness


**Translation:**

Salutations to the fulfiller of the desires of the learned, greatly renowned, increaser of virtue, embodiment of righteousness, overseer of wealth, giver of wealth, and protector of righteousness.


**Verse 12:**

सर्ववेदार्थतत्त्वज्ञः सर्वापद्विनिवारकः ।

सर्वपापप्रशमनः स्वमतानुगतामरः ॥ १२॥

- **सर्ववेदार्थतत्त्वज्ञः (Sarva-veda-artha-tattva-jnah):** Knower of the essence and meaning of all Vedas

- **सर्वापद्विनिवारकः (Sarva-apad-vinivarakah):** Remover of all troubles

- **सर्वपापप्रशमनः (Sarva-papa-prashamanah):** Subduer of all sins

- **स्वमतानुगतामरः (Sva-mata-anugata-amarah):** Eternal, following his own principles


**Translation:**

Salutations to the knower of the essence and meaning of all Vedas, remover of all troubles, subduer of all sins, and eternal, following his own principles.


**Verse 12:**

सर्ववेदार्थतत्त्वज्ञः सर्वापद्विनिवारकः ।

सर्वपापप्रशमनः स्वमतानुगतामरः ॥ १२॥

- **सर्ववेदार्थतत्त्वज्ञः (Sarva-veda-artha-tattva-jnah):** Knower of the essence and meaning of all Vedas

- **सर्वापद्विनिवारकः (Sarva-apad-vinivarakah):** Remover of all troubles

**Verse 13:**

ऋग्वेदपारगो ऋक्षराशिमार्गप्रचारकः ।

सदानन्दः सत्यसन्धः सत्यसंकल्पमानसः ॥ १३॥

- **ऋग्वेदपारगः (Rigveda-paragah):** Proficient in the Rigveda

- **ऋक्षराशिमार्गप्रचारकः (Riksha-rashi-marga-pracharakah):** Promoter of the path of zodiac constellations

- **सदानन्दः (Sad-anandah):** Always blissful

- **सत्यसन्धः (Satya-sandhah):** True to his word

- **सत्यसंकल्पमानसः (Satya-sankalpa-manasah):** Whose resolve is always true


**Translation:**

Salutations to the one proficient in the Rigveda, promoter of the path of zodiac constellations, always blissful, true to his word, whose resolve is always true.


**Verse 14:**

सर्वागमज्ञः सर्वज्ञः सर्ववेदान्तविद्वरः ।

ब्रह्मपुत्रो ब्राह्मणेशो ब्रह्मविद्याविशारदः ॥ १४॥

- **सर्वागमज्ञः (Sarva-agama-jnah):** Knower of all scriptures

- **सर्वज्ञः (Sarvajnah):** Omniscient

- **सर्ववेदान्तविद्वरः (Sarva-vedanta-vid-varah):** The greatest knower of all Vedanta

- **ब्रह्मपुत्रः (Brahma-putrah):** Son of Brahma

- **ब्राह्मणेशः (Brahmaneshah):** Lord of the Brahmins

- **ब्रह्मविद्याविशारदः (Brahma-vidya-visharadah):** Expert in the knowledge of Brahma


**Translation:**

Salutations to the knower of all scriptures, omniscient, the greatest knower of all Vedanta, son of Brahma, lord of the Brahmins, expert in the knowledge of Brahma.


**Verse 15:**

समानाधिकनिर्मुक्तः सर्वलोकवशंवदः ।

ससुरासुरगन्धर्ववन्दितः सत्यभाषणः ॥ १५॥

- **समानाधिकनिर्मुक्तः (Samana-adhika-nirmuktah):** Free from jealousy and envy

- **सर्वलोकवशंवदः (Sarva-loka-vasham-vadah):** Influential over all realms

- **ससुरासुरगन्धर्ववन्दितः (Sasura-asura-gandharva-vanditah):** Revered by gods, demons, and celestial musicians

- **सत्यभाषणः (Satya-bhashanah):** Truthful in speech


**Translation:**


Salutations to the one free from jealousy and envy, influential over all realms, revered by gods, demons, and celestial musicians, and truthful in speech.


**Verse 16:**

नमः सुरेन्द्रवन्द्याय देवाचार्याय ते नमः ।

नमस्तेऽनन्तसामर्थ्य वेदसिद्धान्तपारगः ॥ १६॥

- **नमः सुरेन्द्रवन्द्याय (Namah surendra-vandyaya):** Salutations to the one venerated by the lord of the gods

- **देवाचार्याय (Devacharyaya):** The teacher of gods

- **नमस्तेऽनन्तसामर्थ्य (Namaste ananta-samarthya):** Salutations to the one with infinite capabilities

- **वेदसिद्धान्तपारगः (Veda-siddhanta-paragah):** Proficient in the ultimate conclusions of the Vedas


**Translation:**

Salutations to the one venerated by the lord of the gods, the teacher of gods, with infinite capabilities, proficient in the ultimate conclusions of the Vedas.


**Verse 17:**

सदानन्द नमस्तेऽस्तु नमः पीडाहराय च ।

नमो वाचस्पते तुभ्यं नमस्ते पीतवाससे ॥ १७॥

- **सदानन्द (Sada-ananda):** Always blissful

- **नमस्तेऽस्तु (Namaste astu):** Salutations to you

- **पीडाहराय (Peedaharaya):** Remover of afflictions

- **वाचस्पते तुभ्यं (Vachaspati tubhyam):** Salutations to the lord of speech

- **पीतवाससे (Peetavasase):** Wearer of yellow garments


**Translation:**

Salutations to the always blissful one, remover of afflictions, lord of speech, and the wearer of yellow garments.


**Verse 18:**

नमोऽद्वितीयरूपाय लम्बकूर्चाय ते नमः ।

नमः प्रकृष्टनेत्राय विप्राणाम्पतये नमः ॥ १८॥

- **अद्वितीयरूपाय (Advitiyarupaya):** Unparalleled in form

- **लम्बकूर्चाय (Lambakurchaya):** Having long hair

- **प्रकृष्टनेत्राय (Prakrishtanetraya):** With excellent eyes

- **विप्राणाम्पतये (Vipranampataye):** Lord of the learned (Brahmins)


**Translation:**

Salutations to the unparalleled in form, having long hair, with excellent eyes, and the lord of the learned.


**Verse 19:**

नमो भार्गवषिष्याय विपन्नहितकारिणे ।

नमस्ते सुरसैन्यानांविपत्छिद्रानकेतवे ॥ १९॥

- **नमो भार्गवषिष्याय (Namah bhargavashishyaya):** Salutations to the disciple of the sage Bhrigu

- **विपन्नहितकारिणे (Vipannahitakarine):** Benefactor of those in distress

- **सुरसैन्यानांविपत्छिद्रानकेतवे (Surasainyanam vipatchidranaketave):** Protector of the armies of the gods, dispeller of dangers


**Translation:**

Salutations to the disciple of the sage Bhrigu, benefactor of those in distress, and protector of the armies of the gods, dispeller of dangers.


**Verse 20:**

बृहस्पतिः सुराचार्यो दयावान् शुभलक्षणः ।

लोकत्रयगुरुः श्रीमान् सर्वगः सर्वतोविभुः ॥ २०॥

- **बृहस्पतिः (Brihaspatih):** Jupiter, the preceptor of gods

- **सुराचार्यो (Suracharyo):** Teacher of the gods

- **दयावान् (Dayavan):** Compassionate

- **शुभलक्षणः (Shubhalakshanah):** Having auspicious characteristics

- **लोकत्रयगुरुः (Lokatrayaguruh):** Guru of the three worlds

- **श्रीमान् (Shriman):** Glorious

- **सर्वगः (Sarvagah):** All-pervading

- **सर्वतोविभुः (Sarvatovibhuh):** Omnipresent


**Translation:**

Salutations to Jupiter, the preceptor of gods, compassionate, having auspicious characteristics, guru of the three worlds, glorious, all-pervading, and omnipresent.


**Verse 21:**

अक्रोधनो मुनिश्रेष्ठो दीप्तिकर्ता जगत्पिता ।

विश्वात्मा विश्वकर्ता च विश्वयोनिरयोनिजः ॥ २१॥

- **अक्रोधनो (Akrodhano):** Free from anger

- **मुनिश्रेष्ठो (Munishreshtho):** The greatest among sages

- **दीप्तिकर्ता (Diptikarta):** Creator of brilliance

- **जगत्पिता (Jagatpita):** Father of the world

- **विश्वात्मा (Vishvatma):** Soul of the universe

- **विश्वकर्ता (Vishvakarta):** Creator of the universe

- **विश्वयोनिरयोनिजः (Vishvayonirayonijah):** Source of the universe, uncreated


**Translation:**

Salutations to the one free from anger, the greatest among sages, creator of brilliance, father of the world, soul of the universe, creator of the universe, the uncreated source of the universe.


**Verse 22:**

भूर्भुवोधनदासाजभक्ताजीवो महाबलः ॥ २२॥

- **भूर्भुवोधनदासाजभक्ताजीवो (Bhurbhuvodhanadasajabhaktajivo):** Giver of wealth in all the three worlds (Bhuh, Bhuvah, Svah)


भूर् (Bhur) - Earth

भुवः (Bhuvah) - Atmosphere or Sky

धनद (Dhanada) - Giver of wealth

असा (Asa) - Hope or Desire

ज (Ja) - Born or Produced

भक्त (Bhakta) - Devotee or Follower

आजीव (Ajiva) - Livelihood


Together, the compound word indicates one who provides wealth and sustenance across the physical, atmospheric, and spiritual realms, supporting the hopes and livelihood of devotees.


- **महाबलः (Mahabalah):** Extremely powerful


**Translation:**

Salutations to the one who is a giver of wealth in all the three worlds and is extremely powerful.


**Verse 23:**

बृहस्पतिः काष्यपेयो दयावान् षुभलक्षणः ।

अभीष्टफलदः श्रीमान् सुभद्गर नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ २३॥

- **बृहस्पतिः (Brihaspatih):** Jupiter, the preceptor

- **काष्यपेयो (Kashyapeyo):** Descendant of Kashyapa

- **दयावान् (Dayavan):** Compassionate

- **षुभलक्षणः (Shubhalakshanah):** Having auspicious attributes

- **अभीष्टफलदः (Abhishtaphaladah):** Granter of desired fruits

- **श्रीमान् (Shriman):** Glorious

- **सुभद्गर नमोऽस्तु ते (Subhadgar namo astu te):** Salutations to the auspicious one


**Translation:**

Salutations to Jupiter, the descendant of Kashyapa, compassionate, having auspicious attributes, granter of desired fruits, and the glorious auspicious one.


**Verse 24:**

बृहस्पतिस्सुराचार्यो देवासुरसुपूजितः ।

आचार्योदानवारिष्ट सुरमन्त्री पुरोहितः ॥ २४॥

- **बृहस्पतिस्सुराचार्यो (Brihaspatissuracharyo):** Jupiter, the teacher of the gods

- **देवासुरसुपूजितः (Devasurasupujitah):** Highly revered by gods and demons

- **आचार्योदानवारिष्ट (Acharyodanavarishta):** The greatest teacher among the demons

- **सुरमन्त्री पुरोहितः (Suramantri purohitah):** Minister and priest of the gods


**Translation:**

Salutations to Jupiter, the teacher of the gods, highly revered by gods and demons, the greatest teacher among the demons, and the minister and priest of the gods.


**Verse 25:**

कालज्ञः कालऋग्वेत्ता चित्तदश्च प्रजापतिः ।

विष्णुः कृष्णः सदासूक्ष्मः प्रतिदेवोज्ज्वलग्रहः ॥ २५॥

- **कालज्ञः (Kalajnah):** Knower of time

- **कालऋग्वेत्ता (Kalarigvetta):** Knower of the correct times

- **चित्तदश्च प्रजापतिः (Chittadashcha Prajapatih):** He who rules over the mind and is the lord of creatures

- **विष्णुः (Vishnuh):** Vishnu

- **कृष्णः (Krishnah):** Krishna

- **सदासूक्ष्मः (Sadasukshmah):** Always subtle

- **प्रतिदेवोज्ज्वलग्रहः (Pratidevojjvalagrahah):** The resplendent planet corresponding to each deity


**Translation:**

Salutations to the knower of time and the correct times, ruler of the mind and lord of creatures, Vishnu, Krishna, always subtle, and the resplendent planet corresponding to each deity.


**Verse 26:**

॥ इति गुर्वाष्टोत्तरशतनामस्तोत्रम् सम्पूर्णम् ॥

- **इति (Iti):** Thus

- **गुर्वाष्टोत्तरशतनामस्तोत्रम् (Gurvashtottarashatanamastotram):** The Guru Ashtottara Shatanama Stotram
