Kethu Ashtothara Stotram

                   श्रीकेतु अष्टोत्तरशतनामस्तोत्रम्

श‍ृणु नामानि जप्यानि केतो रथ महामते ।केतुः स्थूलशिराश्चैव शिरोमात्रो ध्वजाकृतिः ॥ १॥

Listen to the recitable names of Ketu, O great intelligence. Ketu, with a large head, is only a head, having the form of a flag.

नवग्रहयुतः सिंहिकासुरीगर्भसम्भवः ।महाभीतिकरश्चित्रवर्णो वै पिंगळाक्षकः ॥ २॥

Associated with the nine planets, born from the womb of the demoness Simhika. Causing great fear, of various colors, indeed, having reddish-brown eyes.

स फलोधूम्रसंकाषः तीक्ष्णदंष्ट्रो महोरगः ।रक्तनेत्रश्चित्रकारी तीव्रकोपो महासुरः ॥ ३॥

He, resembling a smoky or grey fruit, having sharp fangs, a great serpent. Red-eyed, creator of wonders, intensely angry, a great demon.

क्रूरकण्ठः क्रोधनिधिश्छायाग्रहविशेषकः ।अन्त्यग्रहो महाशीर्षो सूर्यारिः पुष्पवद्ग्रही ॥ ४॥

With a cruel throat, a treasure of anger, a specific shadow planet. The last planet, with a great head, enemy of the Sun, seizer like a flower.

वरहस्तो गदापाणिश्चित्रवस्त्रधरस्तथा ।चित्रध्वजपताकश्च घोरश्चित्ररथश्शिखी ॥ ५॥

Holding a mace in his hand, wearing varied clothes. Bearing a distinctive flag, terrible, with a varied chariot, a peacock.

कुळुत्थभक्षकश्चैव वैडूर्याभरण स्तथा ।उत्पातजनकः शुक्रमित्रं मन्दसखस्तथा ॥ ६॥

Eater of pulses, adorned with lapis lazuli ornaments. Creator of disturbances, a friend of Venus, and a slow companion.

गदाधरः नाकपतिः अन्तर्वेदीश्वरस्तथा ।जैमिनीगोत्रजश्चित्रगुप्तात्मा दक्षिणामुखः ॥ ७॥

Bearing a mace, lord of the sky, lord of the sacrificial altar. Born in the lineage of Jaimini, with a mysterious soul, facing south.

मुकुन्दवरपात्रं च महासुरकुलोद्भवः ।घनवर्णो लम्बदेहो मृत्युपुत्रस्तथैव च ॥ ८॥

Recipient of blessings from Mukunda, born of a great demon family. Dark in color, with a long body, also known as the son of death.

उत्पातरूपधारी चाऽदृश्यः कालाग्निसन्निभः ।नृपीडो ग्रहकारी च सर्वोपद्रवकारकः ॥ ९॥

Bearer of an ominous form, invisible, resembling the fire of destruction. A tormentor of kings, a planetary influence, creator of all disturbances.

चित्रप्रसूतो ह्यनलः सर्वव्याधिविनाशकः ।अपसव्यप्रचारी च नवमे पापदायकः ॥ १०॥

Born of a varied nature, fire, destroyer of all diseases. Moving in a reverse order, giving sins in the ninth house.

पञ्चमे शोकदश्चोपरागखेचर एव च ।अतिपुरुषकर्मा च तुरीये सुखप्रदः ॥ ११॥

In the fifth house, giver of sorrow, and an eclipsing celestial body. Excessively active, and in the fourth house, a giver of happiness.

तृतीये वैरदः पापग्रहश्च स्फोटककारकः ।प्राणनाथः पञ्चमे तु श्रमकारक एव च ॥ १२॥

In the third house, causing enmity, a malefic planet, causing explosions. Lord of life, in the fifth house, also a cause of labor.

द्वितीयेऽस्फुटवाग्दाता विषाकुलितवक्त्रकः ।कामरूपी सिंहदन्तः सत्येऽप्यनृतवानपि ॥ १३॥

In the second house, giver of unclear speech, with a face troubled by poison. Shape-shifter, with teeth like a lion, truthful yet also untruthful.

चतुर्थे मातृनाशश्च नवमे पितृनाशकः ।अन्त्ये वैरप्रदश्चैव सुतानन्दनबन्धकः ॥ १४॥

In the fourth house, destroyer of the mother, in the ninth, destroyer of the father. In the last, giver of enmity, and restrictor of children’s happiness.

सर्पाक्षिजातोऽनंगश्च कर्मराश्युद्भवस्तथा ।उपान्ते कीर्तिदश्चैव सप्तमे कलहप्रदः ॥ १५॥

Born from the serpent’s eye, formless, arising from the sign of actions. In the penultimate, giver of fame, and in the seventh, a cause of disputes.

अष्टमे व्याधिकर्ता च धने बहुसुखप्रदः ।जनने रोगदश्चोर्ध्वमूर्धजो ग्रहनायकः ॥ १६॥

In the eighth house, creator of diseases, in wealth, a giver of great pleasure. At birth, a giver of diseases, and an upper-head planet, a leader among planets.

पापदृष्टिः खेचरश्च शाम्भवोऽशेषपूजितः ।शाश्वतश्च नटश्चैव शुभाऽशुभफलप्रदः ॥ १७॥

Evil-eyed, celestial wanderer, born of Shambhu, worshipped by all. Eternal, an actor, and giver of auspicious and inauspicious results.

धूम्रश्चैव सुधापायी ह्यजितो भक्तवत्सलः ।सिंहासनः केतुमूर्ती रवीन्दुद्युतिनाशकः ॥ १८॥

Smokey in appearance, drinker of nectar, unconquerable, fond of devotees. Seated on a lion throne, the form of Ketu, destroyer of the brilliance of the Sun and Moon.

अमरः पीडकोऽमर्त्यो विष्णुदृष्टोऽसुरेश्वरः ।भक्तरक्षोऽथ वैचित्र्यकपटस्यन्दनस्तथा ॥ १९॥

Immortal, afflicter, undying, seen by Vishnu, lord of demons. Protector of devotees, and possessing a chariot of diverse and wonderful appearance.

विचित्रफलदायी च भक्ताभीष्टफलप्रदः ।एतत्केतुग्रहस्योक्तं नाम्नामष्टोत्तरं शतम् ॥ २०॥

Giver of varied fruits, and granter of devotees’ desired results. Thus, these are the stated 108 names of the planet Ketu.

यो भक्त्येदं जपेत्केतुर्नाम्नामष्टोत्तरं शतम् ।स तु केतोः प्रसादेन सर्वाभीष्टं समाप्नुयात् ॥ २१॥

Whoever devoutly recites these 108 names of Ketu, by the grace of Ketu, attains all desired.
